Hello again, and first of all, I am saddened to hear of the death of Ray Harryhausen, 1920 – 2013.
Both he and his great friend Ray Bradbury were responsible for charging my (and many others) imagination with fantastical images, immersive worlds and wondrous characters. The world is a lesser place without their bright, exceptional talents.
In this age of soulless CGI, Harryhausen was a master of his art and, quite rightly, a Legend.
Ray Bradbury died in 2012 – An extraordinary writer who I grew up in awe of and who left me forever inspired.
“We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is, knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out.”
So.. it’s been a while, here’s a little behind-the-scenes info – this is a blog after all!
What’s my situation? Like everyone I am trying to earn a crust – and like so many others, I do not make a living from doing what I love. Grrr. Ah, maybe one day..
I am back from work – very boring – now doing something I much prefer, recording vocals for (possibly) a single, taken (possibly) from the next album Pechora. It takes me an age to decide on track listings, (as well as titles) but Pechora is slowly shaping up, with some older tunes alongside some very new ones. We’ll see…
Me and thunder stick 😉
The track began as a short piano idea, that I really liked and was listening to on headphones one day on my way home. I started singing some melody ideas to myself and rushed to record them. Today is the proper recording.
Anyway, this being London, I have noisy neighbours, and as soon as they all stop shouting at each other I will get this track going.. I’m pleased with it.. and hopefully you will enjoy it too when it’s out. It is currently called ‘Whirlpool’.
– Next post will be something different, a small story even.
And thanks to Cyril Fussy who kindly posted this link up: “A bit of French love for you guys, Keepi the good work!”
Do tell your friends, noisy neigbours, or indeed the world, about Paaliaq. It’s great to have these tunes appreciated.
Again, you can also hear my recent, licensed music over on AudioJungle. I am very proud of these tracks as cinematic pieces – please pass the link on to anyone you know making films/animation who needs music. Thanks.
Hope you’re good, more soon.
